Therefore, when selecting lighting fixtures, it is essential to choose light sources with good control and direction, and to avoid using ordinary lighting fixtures as much as possible.
Different locations in the garden have significantly different lighting requirements. To showcase the beautiful shapes of buildings, sculptures, flowers, and rocks within the garden, the lighting methods should vary according to the scenery, and the intensity of the spotlight should change as needed to display their unique charm at night. The streetlights on both sides of the garden path should provide uniform and continuous illumination to meet safety needs.
To make a small space appear larger, only the necessary areas can be illuminated while leaving the rest in shadow. For larger outdoor spaces, the approach is the opposite, which creates a sense of intimacy in the large space.
Outdoor lighting should use dimmers on light sources cautiously. On most garden lights that use incandescent bulbs, using a dimmer will make the light appear yellow, casting a yellowish hue on the illuminated objects, especially for plants, which can present a sickly appearance and lose their original vitality.
Color filters should also be used sparingly, as the light projected through them can create a sense of distortion, making plants appear somewhat unrealistic. Of course, the sky blue filter is an exception; it can eliminate the yellow tones in incandescent light, transforming it into a pleasant blue-white light. A small filter or other accessory can significantly change the entire landscape, which needs to be carefully considered in the design.
