Differences between domestic and foreign explosion-proof LED roadway lights for mines

With the development of science and technology, the fourth generation of LED light sources Mine explosion-proof LED roadway lamps are gradually replacing incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, and energy-saving lamps, becoming a more reliable lighting application in coal mine safety production. The advantages of long lifespan, low energy consumption, small size, and good color rendering are of great significance to improving coal mine safety production capacity, saving energy, and reducing coal mining costs. The explosion-proof LED lighting for coal mines is designed as explosion-proof type "D". In lighting, all components that can ignite a flammable mixture of gas and coal dust are enclosed in an explosion-proof shell, which can withstand the high pressure and high temperature generated after an internal ignition source causes an explosion, and simultaneously extinguish the fire through the joint surface and explosion gap of the explosion-proof shell, preventing explosions outside the shell. In addition, because there is no ability to limit the surface temperature of the lamp, it prevents the temperature of the lamp shell from igniting a flammable mixture of gas and coal dust, thus protecting people and equipment in the coal mine.

Domestic and international coal mine explosion-proof electrical standards

For electrical products used in explosive atmospheres, the IEC 60079 series of standards published by the International Electrotechnical Commission are currently being implemented internationally. The GB3836 series of standards are formulated in accordance with China's unique national conditions, adding national differences to the IEC60079 series of standards and formulated with equivalent methods.

However, with the development of technology and differences in factors such as the speed of version updates, the design requirements for explosion-proof LED lighting products for coal mines have also changed significantly. In particular, there are new requirements for the impact of light radiation generated by LEDs on explosive environments.

Technical requirement differences between the IEC60079-0: 2011 and GB3836.1-2010 standards for explosion-proof LED roadway lamps used in mines

The shell of explosion-proof LED roadway lamps used in mines is divided into two types: metal shell and non-metal shell. When using a metal shell, IEC60079-0: 2011 stipulates that metal shells with a total content of more than 15% aluminum, magnesium, titanium, or zirconium, or more than 7.5% magnesium, titanium, and zirconium, cannot be used. According to China's national conditions, this requirement has changed. Domestically, the explosion-proof lighting metal shells used in coal mining faces cannot use metal shells with a total content of more than 15% aluminum, magnesium, titanium, or zirconium, or more than 7.5% magnesium, titanium, and zirconium. However, for explosion-proof lighting metal shells in non-mining working faces, domestic regulations require that the shell must withstand more than 120 MPa. When using a non-metal shell for explosion-proof LED roadway lamps used in mines, IEC60079-0: 2011 does not clearly specify the flammability of the material, while GB3836.1-2010 stipulates that plastic shells must be tested according to the vertical flame test method (FV method) specified in GB/T11020-2005. According to the actual construction environment requirements of domestic coal mines, the entire machine of domestic explosion-proof electrical equipment has added an alternating wet and heat test. Common explosion-proof LED roadway lamps used in mines should be able to pass the severe-grade temperature 40, cycle 12d, and humidity 93% alternating wet and heat test. At the same time, for the wiring cavity of the metal shell, domestic regulations require that the inner arc coating be applied to the inner surface of the cavity.
