Currently, lighting accounts for 15% of global electricity consumption, and the carbon dioxide emissions generated account for 5% of the global total. Advanced lighting technologies, including LED and controls, can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than half. Using efficient lighting equipment helps protect the global climate and environment.
In addition, the economic benefits of using LED lights should not be underestimated. If commercial efficient lighting fixtures and equipment are widely applied, the world could save more than $120 billion in electricity expenses each year. We are in a leading position in the global lighting industry, with advanced technologies available for export, and efficient lighting can accelerate the promotion of energy efficiency.
In recent years, smoggy weather has frequently appeared, severely affecting people's lives and health. The use of LED lights will indirectly reduce the emissions of the main culprit of smog, PM2.5. Thermal power plants and other heavy industries are major sources of PM2.5 emissions and are also primary sources of air pollution. If existing non-energy-saving lighting equipment is replaced with LED equipment, the world could avoid the construction of 280 thermal power plants. It can be seen that using efficient lighting will effectively reduce dependence on coal-fired power generation, thereby reducing PM2.5 emissions and helping to improve air quality. While outdoor pollution has attracted widespread attention, indoor pollution also threatens the safety of people's lives.
