Five Types of LED Explosion-proof Lights
Jul 25,2022
Isn't it a pleasure to look at the colorful lights outside the window every night? Nowadays, there are various types of lights on the market, and many people are inevitably overwhelmed when faced with choices. Today, I'd like to introduce to you Explosion-proof lights , let's take a look!
Explosion-proof lights certainly have explosion-proof characteristics during use. Even when used in flammable and explosive environments, explosion-proof lights are not prone to explosions. This ensures construction safety and alleviates concerns for construction personnel. At the same time, explosion-proof lights can also be used as emergency lights with a long standby time.
Some explosion-proof lamp casings are made of special materials. The main raw material is alloy. It is relatively compact and has a compact structure. Its function ensures it won't be damaged even when used in rainy weather or water, which is also why explosion-proof lights have a very long lifespan.
Advantages of explosion-proof lights compared to ordinary lights:
1. Since LED is a solid-state cold light source, it has advantages such as high electro-optical conversion efficiency, low heat generation, low power consumption, safe low operating voltage, and long service life.
2. Research data on energy saving of LED explosion-proof lights shows that since LEDs are cold light sources, semiconductor lighting itself does not pollute the environment. Compared with incandescent and fluorescent lamps, the power saving efficiency can reach over 90%.
3. LED explosion-proof lights are healthy. LED is a green light source. LED lights are DC driven, flicker-free; contain no infrared or ultraviolet components, no radiation pollution, high color rendering, strong directivity of light emission; good dimming performance, no visual error when color temperature changes; cold light source with low heat, safe to touch; these are advantages incandescent and fluorescent lamps cannot match. They not only provide a comfortable lighting space but also effectively meet people's health needs. They are a healthy, eye-protective, and environmentally friendly light source. Currently, due to the small power and low brightness of individual LEDs, they are not suitable for standalone use. However, assembling multiple LEDs to design practical LED explosion-proof lights has broad application prospects.
Five types of LED explosion-proof lights:
1. Flameproof type:
One of the structures of explosion-proof lights refers to equipment having an enclosure robust enough to withstand 1.5 times the explosion pressure generated by an internal explosive gas mixture, and a shock resistance not less than 3.5×10Pa. This ensures no deformation or damage, and that there are certain structural gaps to cool the ejected combustion products through a specific flange length to a temperature below the autoignition temperature of the external explosive mixture, thereby achieving the explosion-proof purpose.
2. Increased safety type:
One of the structures of explosion-proof lights refers to adopting a series of safety measures for the equipment, such as using high-quality insulating materials, reducing temperature rise, increasing electrical clearances, and improving wiring quality. It will not generate sparks, arcs, or dangerous temperatures within specified limits, or it uses effective protective components to ensure that any generated sparks, arcs, or temperatures cannot ignite explosive mixtures, thereby achieving the explosion-proof purpose.
3. Pressurized type:
One of the structures of explosion-proof lights refers to pressurizing the inside of the equipment to ensure that the pressure of the internal protective gas is higher than the surrounding environment, to prevent explosive mixtures from entering the enclosure, or by passing a sufficient amount of protective gas through the enclosure to reduce the concentration of the internal explosive mixture below the lower explosive limit. Generally, there should be no ventilation dead zones inside electrical equipment that could affect safety. During normal operation, the air pressure at the outlet or the inflation pressure must not be lower than a certain value, otherwise an alarm will sound or power will be immediately cut off. Sparks and arcs inside the equipment are not allowed to escape from any gaps or outlets. The pressurized structure is independent of the explosive substance's class and is often used for equipment with easily damaged internal components, large electrical equipment, or electrical equipment for which other explosion-proof structures are difficult to manufacture due to autoignition points T4, T5.
4. Non-sparking type:
Electrical equipment that will not ignite surrounding explosive mixtures under normal operating conditions and generally will not experience ignition failures is called non-sparking type.
5. Dust type:
During normal processing and production, explosive and flammable substances in the form of dust clouds or dust layers can be generated. When mixed with air to a certain concentration, an 'dust-proof' enclosure must be selected for such environments to prevent dust from entering the enclosure. This is because electrical components inside the enclosure may generate arcs, and sparks could ignite the dust, causing an explosion.
